Using Wireframes For Minisite Development
Minisites are exactly what the name entails, they are small sites which load quickly and contain just enough information to draw the attention of visitors and the indexing of search engines. I used to create sites from scratch without actually planning them. I realized quickly that sometimes this method worked and a great deal of the time it did not work.
Only recently have I decided to implement a true element to my minisite development structure. This element known as wireframes is standard when it comes to full fledge website development. Wireframes are normally used during the early parts of the design stage. This normally proceeds the user requirements and analysis stage.
At this point you have analyzed the information which will be used on the site and now are planning the visual elements of the information. Sometimes this can get as indepth as creating use case scenarios as well. Since this is a simple minisite, I have only used the wireframes to plan out the actual design of the site.
Here is an example of a minisite wireframe which I have created. This structure will be used on a number of the domains that I am currently in the process of developing. These minisites are geared towards selling products through the partner networks I am currently a member of.
