Restraining The Urge To Renew
Domain names can be fun, profitable and sometimes down right expensive. Over the years as a domainer I have had to restrain myself from renewing certain names. Just recently I let a few quality (.us) domain names expire because they didn’t fit the current market segments I am focusing on.
It was a tough decision, but then again it was not. Everyone knows (.us) domain names can be quite expensive to renew. The renewal total of the two (.us) domain names equaled the price of about three to four (.com) registrations. This alone was a deciding factor for me to restrain myself from renewing the names.
I’ve created a plan and I am sticking to it. This plan might of changed if the names had generated some revenue within the year that I owned them, but they had not. Who knows how many names I will drop this year…One thing I do know is that for every name that I drop I tend to register one that is much better then the original.
Call it experience or call it dumb luck, whatever it is I am definitely growing as a domainer and will continue to do so by following some simple rules that I have set for myself.
