Old Domain, Old Design, Old Script, Renewed Passion
Several years ago, 2004 to be exact I found myself developing websites like crazy. At this time I was a domainer, but I was not a complete domainer. The projects I worked on would fall by the waste side and I would just move onto the next one. The incomplete projects reflected my passion as a domainer. I truly didn’t see a path, I didn’t know where this world of domaining would lead. One of the projects I left for the dogs was theforumdirectory.com, I got as far as purchasing the domain, a custom design and a script. I even hired a coder to skin the script with the design.
The site even went live, but the coder did a horrible job and I found myself loosing interest in the project. Here is a small sample of what the site looked like when it went live. At this time I didn’t have a process for developing domain names. I let almost any coder handle my projects and spent more time and money then needed on development. In short I was throwing money at projects and trusting that it would work out in the end. Sometimes it would work and sometimes it would not work. It was a 50 / 50 shot. Every now and then I tend to revisit some of these old projects and even though there has been money spent on development costs I feel that I can correct the problems that occurred in the past with a renewed scope and passion to complete the projects properly.
One of the main reasons I am revisiting this project is because I feel it will be a great learning experience and it will help with the development of the datacenterdirectory.com project. Once I develop a successful directory site I can then move forward with developing the professional data center project without any drawbacks. Directory sites have always been a fascination of mine and I want to prove to myself that I have the experience and skill to successfully launch such a site. In the coming weeks there will be several updates made in regards to theforumdirectory.com and I look forward to updating all of you on this. The script I will be using is indexu and the design will be the same which I had created for me years ago. The only difference this time is I have the passion and direction to see this project through its final stages.
