Microsoft Acquires Domain Name Office.com
Microsoft has entered into the online search market like a 800 pound gorilla! There innovative search engine, bing.com has quickly become the engine of choice for many users. Network television is plastered with marketing campaigns pertaining to Microsoft’s new creation, so it is no surprise to me that when Microsoft acquired the domain name office.com only a few news sources actually took the time to write about it! Operating with great precision and lightning speed, Microsoft has acquired a domain name (under the radar) that some say will be used to offer an online suite of office tools.
You have to commend Microsoft in this move, they definitely understand the power of a domain name and are going directly after the competition with no hesitation. It almost seems like an epic story is unfolding before our eyes, with Microsoft following the exact rules of engagement outlined within Sun Tzu’s “Art of War”.
Last month Microsoft promised consumers a free scaled down version of Office Web and from the looks of it they are preparing to deliver. Although no numbers have been revealed on this domain acquisition, I believe Microsoft paid whatever the seller asked for.
