Life Cycle of a Domain Name

Today I decided to randomly search for a phrase which has constantly been bombarding my mind. The idea that a domain name has a life cycle, similar to the life cycle of software development intrigued me. Well not exactly, although the software development life cycle and the domain name life cycle sound similar they are completely different. This is where ICANN comes in with a great diagram that spurred me to write this blog entry.

When I typed in life cycle of a domain into google the first entry returned led me to the infamous ICANN website. What I am about to say next is simply amazing. ICANN taught me something, in fact they taught me a great deal with the Life Cycle of a Typical gTLD Domain Name diagram. I liked the diagram so much that I might even print a larger version of it to hang on my wall at home.
