Alright, to jump start our new day “Domain Spotlight Tuesdays” we are focusing on a company brand which has done quite well when utilizing domain names in conjunction with marketing campaigns. Although the title has given it away I am talking about Hooters!

That’s right everyone, its the place that my friends and I used to frequent while attending college in Virginia. In this entry I am specifically focusing on a pen that I picked up while staying at the Hooters Casino Hotel in Las Vegas. I was impressed with the pen even though it is no different than the standard BIC pens you can pick up from Office Depot or Staples.

The first thing a typical person would notice about this pen is the orange cap or perhaps the Hooters logo located smack dab in the middle of it! As a domainer the first thing I noticed is the eighteen character domain name that hooters so prominently displays on the pen.

This made me think a little more strategically about why and how Hooters has captivated such a large percentage of consumers both male and female. There is a simple answer to these questions. Hooters gets it! Yes that is right, they understand that building a brand is not just about who can spend the most money on a television commercial, sweepstakes giveaway or beauty pageants (Cough, Cough!).

Hooters realizes the importance of a domain name! If you dig deeper then the pretty faces and skimpy outfits Hooters has an incredible online marketing force. If more companies in the restaurant sector followed the path that Hooters has made, they too might have the privilege of adding a hotel and casino to there portfolio.

For me Hooters is more than just a restaurant, because of the fact that they have established themselves effectively online I have had the opportunity to enjoy a stay at there casino and am a proud holder of the Hooters MasterCard (www.HootersCard.com) which is issued by Merrick Bank Corporation.

So what’s the point of this story. Whelp it started off as a simple trip for beer and chicken and has ended up as a brand that I trust, not to mention one that I can always find when browsing online.
