A Clone Of SnapNames.com?

Posted On Monday, February 8, 2010

I am currently on the hunt for great domain names.  Since I tend to search for these domains using a series of manual methods, I am now looking for a way to automate the process.  This will help me free up time to do other things!  While searching through the vast amount of domaining scripts currently available on the market, I ended up on the project page of an outsourcing site.

The project title “Project: clone of snap names dot com” immediately stood out to me.  There are a few folks out there willing to recreate the wheel!  Now I am all for competition, but you need to do your research before you post such a entry on an outsourcing web site.  The budget listed on the site ranged from $300 – $1500.  This mere fact alone showed me that the person who posted the project did not do there due diligence!

Undergoing such a project would cost a great deal more that the range which was listed and taking on such a task would require a great deal of strategic partnerships.  The latter is something that you just can’t buy these days.  Anyways, I thought it was interesting that someone would post a project like this.  Here is a description directly from the project listed on scriptlance.com:

We want a clone site with sites like pool.com, snapnames.com registering expiring domains instantly when they get availible.

We should be able to use our site on several dedicated servers and be able to handle many different domain registrars with their API’s.

We are looking for programmers with experience in domain registering/snapping.

Let us know what you got/can do and how much you want for it.

please go through snapnames.com for complete idea .

Here is a reply to the project, which I thought was funny:
